Rohrbach Wrapped 2024: Legends, Lagers, and Laughs

2024 the year in numbers

We took some time to reflect on 2024 by looking at the stats, like the top beers of this year, community partnerships, and staff celebrations. We couldn’t do any of this without our tremendous staff and customers. Thank you for being a part of our RBC crew. Here are some memorable moments we shared with you all!

7: Total # of Limited Releases

We continued our tradition of innovation with a lineup of limited beer releases. With bold hop-forward creations and uniquely crafted ales, each release highlighted the passion and creativity of our brewing team. Some of our faves were Legends Lager, Tropikitty Double IPA, and Finn’s Adventure Oat Cream IPA.

48: Total # of Small-Batch Brews

This year’s small-batch offerings showcased our commitment to pushing the boundaries of brewing. Each pour told a story of our dedication to providing fresh, unforgettable experiences—and having fun doing it. Our Brewer Chris Perri is responsible for running the small-batch program!

The most popular beer goes to…

Unsurprisingly, our classic Scotch Ale takes the cake again as the most frequently ordered brew. This is our flagship, so we’re glad to see everyone still enjoys it as much as we do.

Impossible to count: number of times “Rohrbach” was mispronounced

Row-back? Raw-bach?

We lost count of how many times “Rohrbach” was hilariously mispronounced—but hey, it’s a tough one. Another secret: the founder’s last name is not Rohrbach–it’s Urlaub!

For the record, it’s pronounced “roar” [as in the sound a lion makes] and “bahk” [rhymes with “rock”].

2: #of New Rohrbach Spaces

A major happening this year was not one, but two, grand openings! Railroad St. opened its new Barrel Room dedicated to private events and special gatherings. We’re proud to continue to put love into our historic 1900s factory building as we grow.

Buffalo Rd. opened its outdoor Beer Garden and we loved enjoying the beautiful summer we had!

Hometown Highlights

Throughout the year, in a number of ways, we celebrated our hometown pride that brought the community in Rochester and beyond together. We couldn’t choose just one moment to spotlight, so here are just a few:

1. We had the opportunity to collaborate with some incredible local businesses throughout the year on special beer releases including Corn Hill Navigation’s Sam Patch Porter, Rubino’s Cent’anni Italian Pilsner, and Genesee Valley Country Museum’s custom brews.

2. The ROC ‘n Roll Fundraiser bike ride turned our Railroad St. Beer Hall into a meeting point for a purposeful journey to help fuel Reconnect Rochester’s work to champion transportation choices in the city.

3. The Space Kitty initiative supported our friends at the North Carolina Craft Brewers Guild to help raise funds for relief efforts in Western NC.

101: combined years at Rohrbach by staff who celebrated significant work anniversaries

We’ve had the privilege of marking some impressive work anniversaries here, showcasing the loyalty and dedication of our team. Jake, Railroad St. Beer Hall Manager, and Bartender Jensen each reached their 3-year milestones.

Some other truly remarkable anniversaries belong to our long-standing team members: Server Carrie Frazier with 27 years, Dot Alexander with 25 years, Tom Spotts with 22 years, and Lou Villareale with 21 years. What’s even more impressive is that nearly half of our front-of-house staff has been with us for more than 10 years. Everyone’s contributions make Rohrbach Brewing Co. the special place it is.

238,9000: # of miles to the moon, inspiring this year’s Totality Beer Collaboration

The 2024 total solar eclipse was a big event here in Rochester where we were right in the path of totality. In its honor, we teamed up with Three Heads Brewing & Strangebird Beer on a trio of beers that represented the phases of the eclipse. We were even featured nationally on ABC!

30: # of years (and the last one) of hosting Flour City Brewer’s Fest

We hosted our last Flour City Brewer’s Fest on August 16. But fret not–the festival will live on through the NYS Brewer’s Association.

Read about the festival’s impact over the years.

Other 2024 Milestones

Some more honorable mentions…

  • The brewers have added a hot dog machine to the brewery break room. Number of hot dogs consumed is unknown.

  • We added our first-ever cornhole league in addition to our shuffleboard leagues.

  • We had a ton of fun with the famous Bills Elvis on our first-ever Bills beer, Legends Lager.

It’s been a year full of great brews, noteworthy moments, and a fantastic community. We’re already looking forward to what the next year has in store. Cheers to new beginnings, fresh brews, and another year of making memories. Wishing you all a happy and healthy start to 2025!
