ABOUT THE BEER
Different Animal IPA is a well-balanced, classic American IPA that blurs the line between East Coast and West Coast India pale ale styles. Different Animal is brewed with a hop blend of El Dorado, Talus, Mosaic, and Azacca for citrus-forward notes of candied orange, lemon, and grapefruit balanced by hints of pine and spice.
Different Animal IPA pairs well with a variety of food and flavors. From classic fried bar food and big smoked barbecue flavors to spicy dishes like Indian curry or Mexican, this IPA can hold up to a lot of bold pairings.
BEHIND THE NAME
This beer was born long before our team had a name for it. Faced with the challenge to develop a new IPA that better suited today’s craft beer drinker preferences, our team piloted recipes for over a year. During that time, plenty of names were tossed around.
While pilot brewing, head brewer Eric Bishop would casually refer to it as a “different animal” in terms of the brewing process. Bishop said, “That’s it–why don’t we just call it Different Animal?”
The name stuck. Not only does it fit the story behind the beer, but it also pays subtle homage to our other successful IPA, Space Kitty, as well as celebrates the great outdoors of Upstate New York.
Branding this new beer? Well, it was a different animal for sure.
